EDHREC MTG: Magic the Gathering

EDHREC MTG and EDHREC Magic the Gathering are the same search. Both want the Commander database inside Magic: the Gathering, not a 60-card format site.

Commander inside Magic

Commander is a multiplayer way to play Magic. Wizards lists it as a format with a 100-card deck, 40 starting life, and a commander-damage rule. EDHREC sits on top of that format. It does not publish the Comprehensive Rules. It counts public decks that already follow them, then recommends cards those decks share.

Scryfall supplies the card layer both sites rely on: names, mana cost, type line, oracle text, and images. Archidekt and Moxfield supply the deck layer EDHREC aggregates. A recommendation is only as current as those public lists.

If you need the rules rather than the averages, start with the commander rules page and the Wizards format page. If you need the averages, use the EDHREC link on each commander guide.

Questions

Is EDHREC a Magic: the Gathering site?

Yes. EDHREC covers Commander, a Magic: the Gathering format also called Elder Dragon Highlander. It is not a rules wiki for Standard, Modern, or Pioneer.

What does EDHREC Magic the Gathering search usually want?

The same product as an EDHREC MTG search: the commander database. Players use both phrases when they want deck data for the 100-card format rather than a 60-card metagame.

Where do the card images on Commandbench come from?

Scryfall. We hotlink Scryfall's images and read names, types, and color identity from the Scryfall API. Wizards of the Coast owns the card text and art.
