EDHREC commander decks

An EDHREC commander deck is a 100-card singleton list with one legend in the command zone. The site shows both real published lists and an average built from the cards those lists share.

What the 100 cards include

Count the commander. The rest of the deck makes up the difference to 100. If you run a legal partner pair, both commanders count. Only basic lands may appear more than once. Every nonland spell and every nonbasic land has to sit inside the commander's color identity.

Preconstructed decks are legal Commander decks too, and they seed a lot of early data when a legend is new. An average list a month later has drifted toward whatever players actually kept. Treat a brand-new commander page as a small sample.

The deck builder checks size, singleton, and colors. It does not know your bracket, and it does not store inclusion rates.

Brackets are a pregame talk

Wizards describes brackets as optional matchmaking, not as a new ban list. The labels below are the five brackets from the October 21, 2025 beta update.

Exhibition

Thematic decks. Game Changers stay out. Games are expected to last long enough for the deck to show its idea.

Core

Straightforward and unoptimized. Still no Game Changers. Win conditions are incremental and can be disrupted.

Upgraded

Stronger than a modern precon, with up to three Game Changers. No mass land denial and no early two-card infinite combos.

Optimized

Fast and consistent, outside the cEDH metagame. Game Changers are not capped.

cEDH

Competitive Commander. The same lack of a Game Changer cap, with decks aimed at the known competitive field.

Questions

What is an EDHREC average deck?

It is a sample list built from cards that show up most often with that commander in public decks. It is a picture of agreement, not a single player's list and not an official precon.

What are Commander brackets?

Wizards published five optional brackets for pregame matchmaking: Exhibition, Core, Upgraded, Optimized, and cEDH. Brackets 1 and 2 exclude Game Changers. Bracket 3 allows up to three. Brackets 4 and 5 do not cap them. The October 21, 2025 beta update is the source for those expectations.

Does a high inclusion rate mean the card fits my bracket?

No. Inclusion means many published lists run the card. A cEDH list and an Exhibition list can both be legal Commander decks. EDHREC's bracket filter exists so those averages do not get blended without a choice.
